### Tony, C.J, Jon and Jessicas homework

4. You've been hired to mow your neighbor's lawn this summer. Your neighbour will pay you \$5 each time that you mow his lawn, and it takes you 40 minutes to mow his lawn

How much money do you make per minute (money divide time), and how much money should the neighbour pay you if it takes 60 minutes to mow the lawn?

The way we figured it out was trying to times 40 by something to equal 500 because \$5 is 500 cents. we found out 40X 12 = 480 which would be \$4.80 and 40X13= 520 which is \$5.20. So the answer could be either 12 or 13 cents you earn a minute because their both close to \$5.00. If you mowed the lawn for 60 minutes you'd get an extra \$2.40 because 20X 12=240 so the answer would be \$7.40.

Hi Tony, C.J, Jessica and Jon... This is Kim V, Amalia, Mark and Alex W. You answered the question for how much you get per minute, but you didn't really figure out how much you will get if you mow the lawn for 60 min. Also, we think that the answer is wrong because you have to divide 5 by 40. Since you get paid for 5 dollars for 40 min. So the answer will be \$1.25 dollars per minute.

if it was \$1.25 per minute you'd be very rich =.=

This is some great thinking and problem solving that you used to come up with this answer. I am very impressed group.

as for the answer of \$7.40 for 60 mins of work I think that you are a bit off .Anyone, smillies included wish to tell me what the exact answer would be?
